Sustainability Policy
We believe it is our responsibility to find ways to care for our environment, whilst also considering human wellbeing and the ecological health of our planet. Sustainability within our business is concerned with scrutinising all of our choices in order to reduce our carbon footprint, cut down on excess plastic and packaging, utilise eco-friendly methods and materials, and manage our water use.
The flower industry is not green. The majority of flowers used in U.K. floristry are imported from other countries such as South America, Kenya and the Netherlands, racking up hundreds of thousands of air/road miles. Many florists choose to use floral foam and other single-use, plastic-based mechanics/decorations, which end up in landfill and in our waterways as microplastics.
At Meadow Lane we commit to:
Designing with reusable and recyclable vessels and containers
Reducing our use of single-use plastic in what we buy and how we package our products
Designing with locally grown flowers where possible
Designing without the use of floral foam
Returning to our events to deconstruct arrangements and collect materials that can be reused and composted
Composting all green waste
